Thurlow/Associates is now Sheikh/Impact!
Today, we are thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter in our firm’s story. After many months of thoughtful conversations and careful planning, Thurlow/ Associates will become Sheikh/Impact on February 6, 2021.
Although our name will change, our commitment to achieving lasting impact for our nonprofit partners remains. Our dedicated team will continue to provide uninterrupted strategic fund development and organization development services for clients, throughout the transition and beyond.
Along with the name change will be a change in leadership. Victoria Thurlow, who began Thurlow/Associates approximately 30 years ago, is retiring. Amber Sheikh, CFRE, previously our managing senior associate, will lead the firm into the future. “The firm is in good hands,” Victoria says, “and I’m confident it will remain an important resource to the nonprofit sector, under Amber’s strong leadership.”
Amber has been working in the field of fund development and organization development for more than 15 years. Prior to joining us over eight years ago, she had already garnered a wealth of knowledge and experience, through her work with domestic and international nonprofits, as well as in the education and government sectors. A recognized community leader, she serves the City of Los Angeles as a Harbor Area Planning Commissioner and sits on Mayor Garcetti’s Harbor-area Homelessness Organizing Committee. In addition, she serves as a board member of Social Venture Partners LA, Maternal Mental Health NOW, and the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition.
“When I came to Thurlow/Associates,” says Amber, “I knew I would love the work. Now, I’m excited to build on the strong foundation Victoria has created. I’m grateful to her,” she adds, “and also to the whole Thurlow team, which will remain in place — working tenaciously side by side with me to raise the capacity of organizations that are providing vital services and solving some of the toughest issues facing local communities.”
