Selma Hassane

ASSOCIATE

Selma Hassane is an associate at Sheikh/Impact, where she provides research, solicitation and reporting for private and public grants, as well as general fund development support and related services.

Before joining Sheikh/Impact, Selma served as the development and communications coordinator with the San Diego Organizing Project. During her time there, she developed and systematized an individual donor fundraising program, managed fundraising activities and institutionalized a comprehensive communications strategy.

While attending the University of California Irvine, she helped establish an on-campus food pantry there, and was passionate about helping students meet their basic needs. After graduating, Selma’s dedication to food and housing security led her to serve as the host homes coordinator with Home Start, where she connected young people experiencing homelessness to permanent, stable housing.

Born and raised in Algeria, Selma immigrated to the United States at a young age. She earned her bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Sociology from the University of California Irvine and is fluent in French and Arabic. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, taking long nature walks, baking and exploring her newfound love of pottery.
